A third platform in China's largest offshore oil field has come on stream, a leading Chinese oil producer said on Tuesday.
Platform B is one of the five platforms in phase II of the Peng Lai 19-3 oil field, located in Bohai Bay in the north, said the China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) in a statement on its website.
Apart from the five platforms, the project also includes a central processing facility and a floating production, storage and off-loading vessel that is able to process 190,000 barrels of crude a day, it said.
Platforms A and C have started production, with D and E to commence production soon, it added.
"I believe production at the platforms will boost the company's 2008 output," said Liu Jian, CNOOC Ltd's executive vice president.
The oil field is jointly developed by CNOOC Ltd. and US energy company Conoco Phillips China Inc. (COPC), it said.
CNOOC Ltd holds a 51 percent interest in the field and COPC holds the remainder.
