World Leading Surrey Space Company On Show At Farnborough
London, UK (SPX) Jul 11, 2008 Guildford-based Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) is exhibiting at the world famous Farnborough International Airshow 14th - 20th July. SSTL's exhibit, located on Stand A2 Hall 3 will provide a snapshot of the company's activities. From its Guildford headquarters SSTL manufacture of small satellites, on-board subsystems and optical equipment for missions in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) and even interplanetary missions to the Moon and Mars. The SSTL team will be on-hand to answer questions about small satellites and their wide-ranging application in our daily lives, which includes providing information for SatNav systems and engineering missions to the Moon. If you are interested in space, you can also discuss opportunities to join their growing teams in Guildford and Sevenoaks. The Company is actively recruiting to support its growing portfolio of international missions. SSTL already employs almost 300 highly skilled professionals from around the world - more than 230 are experts, in-house engineers and experienced project managers who lead the design, build, test and launch of SSTL-built spacecraft. The best aerospace engineers in the world aspire to work at SSTL, where they are exposed to all elements of the satellite mission life-cycle. Project Manager Alexander O'Neil explained, "People come to work at SSTL because it's very hands-on and you can experience a huge variety from day one. This is due in no small part to SSTL's trailblazing approach. Our satellites move from early-stage design through to launch within an average window of 2-3 years, compared to the 5-10 years that satellites typically take to build!" The Farnborough International Airshow is an international trade event for the aerospace industry, which has been attracting trade visitors from across the world since 1948. Running from the 14th to the 20th July, Farnborough is also open to the general public on the 19th and 20th July. Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) develops innovative technologies to change the economics of space, delivering cost effective satellite missions within rapid timescales. The Company is a world leader in the design, manufacture and operation of high performance small satellites with experience gained over more than 25 years and 27 missions launched. SSTL employs almost 300 staff working on LEO, MEO, GEO and interplanetary missions, turnkey satellite platforms and space-proven satellite subsystems and optical systems. The Company also provides training and development programmes and consultancy services, and performs studies for ESA, NASA and commercial customers related to platform design, mission analysis and planning. Based in Guildford, UK, SSTL is owned by the University of Surrey (85%), SSTL staff (5%), and SpaceX of the USA (10%).
