Vizada And SatComms Australia Provide IriTrack Satellite Communications Solution
Oslo, Norway (SPX) Apr 15, 2008 Vizada and partner SatComms Australia have joined forces to package Vizada's IriTrack communications solution to multinationals and government institutions operating in remote locations in Australia. IriTrack - developed by TDCom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vizada specializing in customized events communications solutions - is a lightweight device combining two-way voice and a tracking tool with global coverage. Communications are routed via Iridium's Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation of 66 satellites. Vizada has more market share on more satellite networks than any other provider in the world. Vizada and SatComms Australia provide IriTrack to multinationals and government institutions in Australia enabling them to comply with mandatory national requirements: all employees driving outside urban telecoms zones must be equipped with a satellite phone in case of emergency. It is also recommended that specific government and state organizations (fire service, military etc.) or dangerous convoys (mining trucks carrying explosives) should carry a tracking system. Vizada provides a one-stop-shop service, combining expertise in airtime management, training, hardware, tracking software and a range of features to offer the IriTrack package. Service provider partner SatComms Australia integrates IriTrack into its portfolio and has leveraged local market knowledge and technical expertise to target Australia-based customers. Vizada maintains active partnerships with a global alliance of service provider partners to serve the needs of customers in local markets worldwide. The IriTrack terminal, originally developed for the Dakar Rally event, is portable and built to stand rugged conditions. An integrated sensor sends the vehicle position to (a) designated address(es) in case of emergency, and a microphone and loud speaker enable communication with the driver regardless of his/her situation. IriTrack is an example of a Vizada solution developed for a specific customer, and which has since been widely adopted in this particular domain: IriTrack is now mandatory for all Dakar Rally competitors as well as in all FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) rally competitions. "We are very pleased to add IriTrack to our portfolio as it is the best solution on the market combining voice and tracking on a single and easy-to-install unit," said Andrew Burdall, Managing Director SatComms Australia. "Thanks to our strong partnership with Vizada we look forward to significant growth in the Australasian market throughout 2008 and into 2009." "This is a perfect example of the value and importance of our service provider network," said Patrick Gibassier, Managing Director TDCom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vizada. "SatComms Australia's market knowledge and local contacts have been indispensable in generating IriTrack business in Australia for both our companies, and our service providers will continue to form a key part of our strategy now and in the future."
