The U.S. Department of Defense has given Rolls-Royce a contract worth more than $100 million to support engines powering U.S. Navy training aircraft.

The contractor logistics support contract, a follow-on award, is for a period of one year.

Covered under the contract are F405 Adour engines used on T-45 planes.

"At Rolls-Royce, we are focused on providing innovative and affordable customer solutions," said Paul Craig, Rolls-Royce's president of Defense Services. "We have been working with the US Navy's F405 fleet for a decade and we appreciate their continued confidence in our service capabilities.

"The Adour is an industry leader in low-risk, affordable engine performance for military trainer aircraft and has amassed more than 8.6 million flight hours across multiple global fleets."

Rolls-Royce said that under the award it will continue to provide intermediate, depot level maintenance and logistics support for more than 200 F405 engines on T-45 aircraft in Texas, Mississippi, Florida and Maryland.
