China will soon send an Indonesian communications satellite into space on the back of Chinese-made Long March 3B rocket, a spokesperson for the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province said Saturday.

All preparatory work is well underway and both the satellite and the rocket were in good condition, the spokesperson said.

The Palapa D satellite, owned by Indosat, an Indonesian satellite communications company, will provide satellite links and broadcasting services for Indonesia and other southeastern Asian nations.

Indosat ordered the Palapa D satellite from the French company Thales Alenia Space in 2007.
