BT Expands IP Network Reach Across Brazil
Washington DC (SPX) Jun 04, 2009 Dedicated to the delivery of global business connectivity, SES AMERICOM-NEW SKIES has announced at the ITW conference in Washington, D.C. that BT in Latin America has signed a three-year agreement for nearly three full transponders of satellite capacity to extend its IP network deep into the remotest regions of Brazil. Expanding from 92 to 104 megahertz of highly reliable C-band capacity aboard SES AMERICOM-NEW SKIES' NSS-10 satellite, BT is offering IP trunking services to link businesses based in Manaus and other rural stretches of Northern Brazil to its teleport and Internet access point in S�o Paulo. BT has also tapped a portion of the satellite bandwidth to support customer SCPC (single channel per carrier) and distance learning applications throughout Brazil. "The agreement represents a significant expansion of the role SES AMERICOM-NEW SKIES is playing in support of BT and its innovative network and telecommunications solutions across Brazil," said Dolores Martos, Vice President of Latin America and Caribbean sales for SES AMERICOM-NEW SKIES. "Our NSS-10 satellite is well equipped and positioned to meet the growing demand for communications services across Brazil and the entire region."
