Yesterday evening, an Ariane 5 launcher lifted off from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana on its mission to place the Arabsat-5A telecommunications satellite and the multi-mission COMS satellite into their planned transfer orbits. Liftoff of V195, the 51st Ariane 5 flight, came at 23:41 CEST (21:41 GMT; 18:41 French Guiana). Air China to buy 20 Boeing planes: statement

Flag carrier Air China said on Friday it had agreed to buy 20 of Boeing's 737-800 planes as it expands to meet growing demand. In a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange, Air China said the list price for the short-to-medium range planes amounted to 1.4 billion US dollars but it had been granted "significant price concessions". The Iraqi shrine city of Najaf, whose mediaeval-style alleyways host millions of Shiite pilgrims every year, has signed a deal for a monorail to rival that of ultra-modern Dubai, a provincial official said on Sunday.
